My search for Spiritual Guru in India

The human mind is in quest of finding the real purpose of being here on the planet earth. It has always been our endeavor, be it in any civilization to know the root, the source of happiness, the reason behind all the miseries and to make the lives better every day. In this journey, India being one of the oldest civilizations has been pioneer in finding answers which seem to be more closer to the reality. With its different perspectives, popularly known as "schools of Philosophies" India has been trying to explore the reality behind the fabric of the world in deeper ways.

All the explorations, the religious or spiritual texts when they are trying to put forth the fabric of the universe, the understanding does not seem to be easier. Hence, the journey of finding "the Guru" begins. A guru, the master who might have known, experienced better than the us would explain, show and guide us in the path. The position of a "Guru" in the path of spirituality plays a larger role than anything else.

Hence, the path of spirituality or otherwise can be termed as "path of inner journey" needs a Guru.

But, here comes the thin line and the danger of losing the whole essence of the practice.

The human mind has the tendency of copying that is fascinating and comfortable. This is the weakness of the human mind. The mind does not want to be aware of its nature, explore the inner layers, but to FOLLOW somebody or something. It needs a reaffirmation by the outer world. This is nothing but the same mentality of following the celebrities in different walks of life, for example.

Once we start following a human being, considering HIM/HER as Guru, most often instead of creating awareness, we start BLIND FOLLOWING. Whatever the Guru or the Teacher teaches become the Mantra. The quality to analysis, to be aware, to find out the truth diminishes. We start to celebrate a new cult of our Guru. Yoga is about the freedom from everything, awareness of the actions and celebration of oneness. Wherein the following the so-called Guru with blind beliefs is a religion with no awareness.

The dedication and faith in Guru does not make oneself blind. But if it is a real faith, as a matter of fact opens the eyes towards the truth. A guru does not ask you to follow him but will guide you to follow your consciousness. The guru will guide you to find your own Guru who is inside your heart. The master will not be interested in creating the disciples but instead will re-open your eyes to show you the master inside.

The master outside is required to guide us to find the master inside. The goal is not to follow the master outside, but to find the same inside. The human beings can commit errors and there is no exception.

In the name of celebrating a cult, a master, a Guru, we all have been responsible for the darkness that has been created by so-called masters. As we start following them blindly, the master seems to start thinking that he is an incarnation of the consciousness or God. We the seekers have to blame ourselves for creating cults after cults.

There has been so many cults and the Gurus who have filled more darkness than the light, more fear than the freedom. Let us be open to all the light that comes from any source. Let us keep our windows open to all the breeze, but not the doors to sweep our foundation. The master is in each cell, living and non-living. The master has always been teaching his lesson through trees, birds, animals, human beings and what not. Let us be the disciples of wisdom, of teachings but not of a human being. After all, we are here on the planet earth as visitors to get refined every sun rise, not to FOLLOW another visitor.
